Getting Started

What’s Going On

  • DisabilityStatistics.org is a free source of disability-related statistics and estimates. You can use the information at DisabilityStatistics.org to shape policy, make decisions, or request funding so that people with disabilities are more fully included in the workplace and community.
  • Data Sources explains where our data comes from.

The Basics

The basics of DisabilityStatistics.org are simple: Start on the Stats page. Use the Selection Panel to select and filter information. Your results show in the Results Panel on the same page. The Results Panel gives results as a map or chart, table, and textual summary. Tools on the Results Panel may allow you to explore and analyze the data. You can also share portions of the Results Panel with others and save its contents in your DisabilityStatistics.org user account.

Using the Site

  • On the Stats page, begin with the Selection Panel, where you can select Topics, Visualization Types (maps, charts), Geographies, and Filters. When you finish with the Selection Panel, it’s time to do some analyzing in the Results Panel using the Map or Chart, Table, and provided text summary.
  • We encourage Sharing Results, and there are features for doing that, plus we have recommendations for clarifying the margin of error and how to cite the data.
  • After you’ve specified what you want in the Selection Panel, you can save it in your user account (coming soon). That way, next time you are on the site, you don’t have to re-do your work in the Selection Panel. Find out about Saving Results and Using Your Account.

Staying in Touch
